| PROPOSALS AND OBJECTIVES
SBID has the following objectives and aims:-
-
To enhance professional standards in the interior design sector and to promote best practice
-
To establish a UK-wide individual accreditation system for individual interior designers. This will measure and validate their professional skills. Suitable supporting information will be held on a database, which will also contain details of specific services offered by each member and associated information (e.g. relevant experience, links to relevant website etc.)
-
To formulate and then implement proposals for a programme of formal examinations to assess and regulate the experience and skill of prospective practitioners. SBID will immediately set up a working party to progress this initiative with a view to submitting formal proposals for acceptance by the membership of SBID at a general meeting to be held no later than two years after the initial establishment of SBID. The proposals will include the arrangements for the administration and independent marking and monitoring of all examination papers through a partnering organisation.
-
To establish a continuing professional development programme for all members. To provide career guidance for members in various areas such as job applications, legal procedures for the provision of services and procurement advice including how to tender for commercial projects etc.
-

-
On key issues affecting the industry and interface with the media, trade associations and education establishments.
