PROVIDING CPD
CPD - Continuing Personal or Professional Development - is the term that describes a commitment to structured skills enhancement and personal or professional competence.
Continuing Professional Development ensures that qualified professionals maintain their competence to practice. It is a requirement that members of a profession or organization undertake training to maintain their competence, knowledge, skills and integrity on a regular, structured basis when they are in practice.
Most notable professional organizations - especially in construction, legal, medical, financial, marketing and architecture / engineering professions require their members to participate in CPD programmes in order to maintain membership and contemporary qualifications.
CPD also offers the service provider and the consumer confidence and protection.
CPD should also enhance an interior designer’s current and future development for themselves and for any staff. It has been implemented to ensure that members keep up to date with a rapidly changing profession.
Professionals are increasingly recognising the benefits of adopting a planned and structured approach to the continuing development of their skills. They need to keep up to date and they also need the ability to acquire new knowledge in response to the challenge of new business requirements. It is this ability to gain new knowledge which is being seen by professionals as the best possible means of gaining and maintaining a competitive advantage over their competitors.
