Vanessa is an internationally recognised, award winning practitioner and consultant. Having completed the Chartered Director programme for both corporate governance and negotiation management, Vanessa brings strong business skills together with a wealth of design practice knowledge.

Simon Cavelle - Founding Trustee

Simon has worked in the design industry for over 30 years, initially as a furniture designer and manufacturer. Simon was a co-opted Board member of the IFI (International Federation of Interior Architects and Designers) serving two terms of office. He is an advisory board member of Global Urban and the International Council for Caring Communities as well as an internationally recognised speaker.

George Bond - National Director

George is an internationally renowned designer who works with clients around the world. 

With residential projects in Southern Africa, Asia, Far East and USA as well as commercial projects throughout North East of England. George is a highly regarded designer and supporter of education in traning and processes.  

Axel Griesinger - Education Director

Associate Professor Axel Griesinger, Dean of the Interior Design Department of the American Intercontinental University (AIU) London is also a professional Architect. He was educated in Germany, France, Belgium and the UK. Axel as Education Director is the driver through which the SBID is expanding Student Chapters, expanding dialogue between practice and education to raise standards of the future profession.

Richard Moss - Research Director

In his 30-year career in the bathroom and kitchen industry, Richard has worked in training and communications for major industry brands such as Ideal Standard and Armitage Shanks, in the bathroom sector, plus Mark Wilkinson and Smallbone in the kitchen sector.  Richard was for several years Editor of the kitchen and bathroom industry’s leading trade title, during which time he founded the industry’s awards, which included Awards for Young Designers and Student Designers.
